Database: RTECS (R)

RTECS (R) (Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances) is a factual database that contains toxicity data and references for commercially important substances, including drugs and agrochemicals. The substance information and toxicology results are collected by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The records contain substance information (including chemical names, class identifiers, definitions, structure diagrams, and CAS Registry Numbers®), irritation data, mutation data, reproductive effects data, tumorigenic effects data, toxicity data, multiple dose data, reviews, standards and regulations (including NIOSH-recommended human exposure limits), activities by NIOSH, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Toxicology Program (NTP), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Occupational Survey data.

RTECS corresponds to the printed Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances, formerly the Toxic Substances List, first published in 1971.

RTECS® is a U.S. trademark owned and licensed under authority of the U.S. Government, by and through MDL Information Systems, Inc.
